Something Simple
I work in a computer lab on my school's campus. I often sit at my desk and do my homework, occasionally being asked if someone can check something out or a rare question like, "How do I print?" Today was no different. I started out doing my homework and checking out necessary equipment to students who needed it. A girl who I helped on Friday came in again to finish her assignment. She told me she didn't know how to complete the assignment. Me, the knowledgeable lab assistant knew what her requirements were and explained to her how to do them. The girl came back a few times after that because she was having troubles understanding what she needed to do. I helped her until she understood, like I would any other student. (Note: this situation wasn't out of the ordinary. This happened on a weekly basis). I helped her complete everything that she needed to do. I didn't think anything of this situation because it honestly occurred so much. After she finished all she needed to do and printed out her assignment, she came up to me and said, "Is there anywhere that I can recommend that you get a raise?" I laughed and said, "My job is to help you. That's the reason I'm here!" She said, "You don't understand how much I appreciate your help. Most people get annoyed when they're asked questions but I appreciate how patient you were and all you did to help me." I didn't think twice about the help I gave her. It was just like any other day, helping any other student. But this girl saw what I did as something that was special and meant the world to her. Her appreciation made my day at work. It made me want to help more people. It felt good to be appreciated. It really wasn't a big deal to me to help her but she made it seem like I had done something great. It felt good to know I made someone's day today and in return, she made mine.

Love is a Miracle
In my Forming Marital Relationships class, we were talking about relationships and and romantic movies. We all know that romantic movies give us an unrealistic view of marriage, sex and everything that comes with those. As true as that is, that doesn't apply to me at this time in my life. But something that does apply to me is dating. Movies and TV also give us an unrealistic view of dating. When I was a pre-teen, I had this idea in my head that I'd go to high school, meet some boy and fall madlessly in love, we'd graduate, he would serve his mission and we'd get married when he got home. Or I'd meet some older boy and we'd get married right out of high school. I know, I was weird. But maybe not really. This is what we see in movies. In a lot of movies, you see the boy glance at the girl, the girl glance at the boy and boom love at first sight. They become friends, date, fall in love and the rest is history. Perfect right? But let's be honest here, that is NOT REALISTIC! The chances of that actually happening, if it ever were to happen, would be slim to none. It takes more than that. The timing has to be perfect. Both people have to be on the same page, at the same time, wanting the same things, and do the right things to make the other person interested. This my friends, is why love is a miracle. For two people, out of the billions of people on this planet, to be on the same page at the same time is truly a miracle. And then for them to be on the same page at the same time for an extended period of time, long enough to get married is even more of a miracle. Unfortunately, you don't generally see that in the movies; the waiting period. So we're all stuck with these unrealistic ideas in our brains wondering why things didn't work out.

Goal Achieved
This past weekend, I accomplished a goal I've had for quite some time. I've always wanted to run a race but have never trained for it and had a true desire. Well this past weekend I ran in the Cedar Express Relay Race with 4 of my friends. I ran 2 legs of the race which was a little over 6 miles. I still cannot believe I did it without dying! But it's such a good feeling to be done and to know that I accomplished it! That's not to say it wasn't hard. It was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done but since I accomplished this, I know that I can do anything I set my mind to. The whole time I was praying for strength to finish and that's what I did. I finished. Our team didn't get first place and didn't win anything but it didn't matter because all of us went in to the race just wanting to finish and we did. Who knows, this could be first of many races! We'll see! Pictures will be coming soon!

Life Lessons
I haven't written in a while and life has just gotten a little crazy. I've been feeling a little down lately seeing everyone around me have new things happen in their lives while I feel like I'm sitting in the same place I started. But there are somethings I've discovered in this little pity party I've been having.
1. When it comes to dating, nobody knows what they're doing and yet people break other's hearts everyday. It's a part of life and that's when you pick up the pieces and find a way to move on.
2. The grass always looks greener on the other side but then you get to the other side and it's really not greener. Life is never easy and it's not supposed to be. It's through the challenges that we grow stronger.
3. My plan never seems to be the way that my life actually goes. God has a plan for me and as I accept and put my trust in that, life seems to become a little easier to bear. The trials don't go away but they begin to lighten.
4. Sometimes a night alone is what is needed to rejuvenate and clear your head. That is a great time to think things through and try to look at life through a new persepective. And making delicious cookies doesn't hurt either...
5. God has given us friends to help us through the hard times. Everyone is in your life for a reason. Whether they stay forever or not doesn't matter. For the time they were in your life, they made an impact.

It Melts My Heart
I thought I was strong and wasn't going to let you do that to me again.
But when you opened your mouth and played, my heart melted again.
Back to square one it is.

My Life
Rushing and racing
and running in circles
Moving so fast, I'm forgetting my purpose
Blur of the traffic is sending me spinning
Getting nowhere
My head and my heart are colliding, chaotic
Pace of the world
I just wish I could stop it
Try to appear like I've got it together
falling apart
Save me
Somebody take my hand, and lead me
Slow me down
Don't let love pass me by
Just show me how
'Cause I'm ready to fall
Slow me down
Don't let me live a lie
Before my life flys by
I need you to slow me down
Sometimes I fear that I might dissapear
In the blur of fast forward I faulter again
Forgetting to breathe, I need to sleep
getting nowhere
All that I've missed I see in the reflection
Passed me while I wasn't paying attention
Tired of rushing, racing and running
falling apart
Tell me
Oh won't you take my hand and lead me
Slow me down
Don't let love pass me by
Just show me how
'Cause I'm ready to fall
Slow me down
Don't let me live a lie
Before my life flys by
I need you to slow me down
Just show me
slow me down,slow me down
The noise of the world is getting me caught up
Chasing the clock and I wish I could stop it
Just need to breathe, somebody please

Life is Good
It's finally summer which means no school and lots and lots of playtime.
Playing night games with friends like I did in the good 'ole days.
My new summer painting job is so great except the working at 6 am part so it's good we all find ways to laugh to make the time go by faster!
Meeting random boys while working. Makes the job much more exciting!
Getting of early enough to be able to still soak up some rays at the pool!
Otter pops. Makes summer that much better.
People randomly texting you to invite you to do things. I wish I was able to do everything!
Seeing old friends that I haven't seen in a long time! Love them all!
Randomly seeing my cousin at my friends reception. Love you A!
Memorizing the tv schedule and knowing exactly when my shows are on!
Being in a small ward and getting to know everyone! So many new friends!
Getting letters from K and M. I miss them so much!
Being so active that I have constant bruises covering my legs. I promise I'm not hurting myself!
Having time to just sit and talk to friends.
Reading 10 pages a day of the Book of Mormon with my ward to finish in 6 weeks. Testimony is definitely strengthened!

My Current Ramblings
Dear person who took their shoes off in the library, you're in a public place and your feet stink. Put your shoes on.
It's funny how crowded the library gets when the semester ends.
This might be TMI but I have sores in my nose. They hurt real bad.
Summer is coming so soon!
Dear girls laughing and talking, it's weird you came to the library to talk because all you can do is whisper. At home you can talk loud.
I haven't been grocery shopping in a few weeks. You could say I'm basically out of food.
I've sneezed probably a BAJILLION times today.
Dear boy who just put 30 books on the return shelf, you must love reading.
I hate crushing on someone you shouldn't be.
I've lost my new tube of chapstick probably 5 times already. Don't worry, I found it today.
I hate when people complement your hair when you think it's ugly.
I want K to come home.
My throat has hurt all day. I keep saying it's just allergies. Let's all hope I'm right.
So I haven't been to the gym in a while and yet my triceps are killing me. What did I do???
I keep telling myself that I have only 2 more days of working at 7:30 am. Then I think that I am working at 6 am all summer. It never ends.
Came to the library and forgot my headphones. Kinda going through withdrawals.
I like popping my ankles. Weird I know.
It's sad when you don't see some of your bestest friends in a long time.
Life would be so much easier if everyone was like me. End of story.

The Time is NOW!
All my life, well let's just say my college years, I've always wanted to make a difference in the world. Do something to leave my mark and help me to know that I've done something great to help change the world and the lives of the people in it. The problem is I've never known how to go about doing this. I'm not a bajillionaire that has money to give. I just don't know where to start. Also, how can I, a college girl from Utah, really make a difference in this world. Yesterday, I saw a lot of people posting everywhere possible about Kony2012. Being my naive self, I had no idea what it was and usually I don't care to know. But everybody and their dog was posting this video so me giving into pressure, gave in and watched it. In that 30 minute video, I feel like this cause is something that I want to be a part of. Kony 2012 is a cause to help stop the rebel armies and their leader Joseph Kony in Uganda. I've heard before about the Invisible Children and the Rebel Armies but I always thought, yeah I can donate money but like that is going to make any difference whatsoever. But after watching that video, I have found a cause that I'm really passionate about and feel like it's something that I want to take part of. Being my little self, all I can do right now it to make people aware. So that is where this post comes in. So, the 5 of you that actually read this blog, I'm talking to you. WATCH THIS VIDEO.
After you've watched it, SHARE IT with everyone you know. Yeah I might not be able to make a major impact by myself, but together we can make a difference. WE CAN SHAPE HUMAN HISTORY. This is just the start of this cause and I know if we all work together, nothing can stop us. This year. 2012. Let's all make a difference and catch Joseph Kony. So, let's get his name out there. This man needs to be stopped and if we all do what we can, he will be stopped. Even if you aren't as passionate about this cause as I am, still share the video so we can at least make others aware. That is were it starts. Making others aware. Do your part and together, we can make a difference.

Life as I Know It
Month long colds suck.
Leggings aren't pants and yet I still wear them as such.
My hair is FINALLY growing.
I want it to be platinum though.
New obsession: twitter.
You know you have too many clothes when you have 30+ empty hangers and your closet is still full.
I need to work out.
26 days until Hunger Games (not counting today)
Saltines and poweraid cure everything.
At least that's what I tell myself.
Nothing like having a best friend. Love you K!
My trip to Oregon was AMAZING!
New music is awesome.
Colored skinny jeans--LOVE!
26 days until Hunger Games! (not counting today)
Love learning new songs on the guitar.
Winter semester is almost over...SHOOT!
Nesquik reminds me of M. Miss you!
BOGO Jamba is probably the best thing ever.
Not sure how I feel about random strangers asking on dates.
The future is scaring me.
Apparently to some people I look like I'm 14.
26 days until Hunger Games!

Nothing Better
Today was a great day.
1. D and A invited K and I to breakfast.
2. T and T invited K and I to the BYU Hockey game.
Nothing better than spending time with friends in what I like to call a "2-way friendship."

Awkward #2
Awkward #2
That awkward moment when you see your friend's ex husband and awkwardly turn the corner as to avoid making eye contact and him recognizing you.

Awkward #1
That awkward moment when you have to go through every hanger in your closet to find the item of clothing you want to wear.
Do I have too many clothes?
Probably.
Stay tuned. Awkward #2 coming soon.

There's No Place Like Home
This past weekend, I went home to go snowboarding with my brother and sister. Well, mother nature had different plans and rained out all our snow. So, I still went home and hung out with my family all weekend. Usually I don't like coming home for no reason because nothing usually happens and we just all sit around doing nothing which I hate. Well, that's pretty much all we did this weekend and it was exactly what I needed. It helped me to forget about everything I'm worried and stressed about at school and I was able to just enjoy being with my family. I definitely don't want to go back to school. I'm so blessed to have such a great family and I don't know where I'd be without them!

Numbness
I feel numb.
Numb to anything and everything around me.
Everyone around me moving so fast.
Accomplishing so much.
I'm here.
Standing still to all around me.
Not feeling happy or sad.
In a state of empty.

My Life as of now
School started up again yesterday.
Buying textbooks sucks. I better use them all a whole lot and my brain better retain every word in those suckers.
Christmas break was the best ever.
I love my new coat and how it makes me look trendier than ever. Go Costco!
Yep still single as ever...this is becoming a reoccuring theme in my life, but you can't have everything right?
My hair is getting longer which is becoming a dilemma...let it grow or keep it short(er)?
The gym is a friend that I haven't seen in quite some time...like since before finals week...shhh don't tell...but I guess it's time to join with every other person on the planet and become reunited with good 'ole Gold's.
Nothing worse than coming back from a break and having to go GROCERY SHOPPING.
I was going strong on not getting sick this school year...well so much for that record.
I'm determined to take up snowboarding...I'll be a natural right?
Graduation is in a year from this semester...freaking out a bit? Yeah maybe a little.
TV shows starting up again...life is good again.
New Years Resolutions have never been good for me so I saw on my cousin made a "Bucket List" for the year because that sounds way better...stay tuned for mine.
I'm seriously loving my classes so far.
Experimenting with my new 100 colors of eyeshadow. Don't laugh if I look like a clown one day...I'm just experimenting.
I love my sisters.
Not sure why but one of my favorite shows is Ghost Hunters...judge away...I'm not sure if I believe in "ghosts" but the show is still cool.
I've decided that I'm going to go back to my super blonde hair color...PLATINUM!
I definitely have taken for granted how great going to a church school is...I love it!
Along with that, I definitely take for granted all the privileges I do get from the church.
Toms are still my favorite shoes...if you don't have some, you are missing out on feet comfortness.
There is by far, nothing better than going to bed early(ier). I forgot what waking up feeling refreshed feels like!
Being sick away from home is WAY worse than being sick when your mom will take care of you.
This is going to be a good semester...I can already feel it!
